Beautifully baked biscuits were on the menu of the Wedge Gardens’ café on Friday, October 7.
The Wedge café initiative was started at the Rand Aid-run rehabilitation centre earlier this year, to impart vocational skills to residents in a hands-on, interactive manner. On Friday, the café was overseen by Wedge Gardens therapist Karen Griessel and once again, some residents of Rand Aid care centre Thembalami were invited as special guests. “It is great fun but also excellent training for the Wedge residents and in turn, they really enjoy serving the Thembalami residents,” says Wedge Garden’s manager Adèl Grobbelaar. Pictured around a prettily laid table are Thembalami Care Centre residents, with Karen and Ntsoake Mabele, an occupational therapy technician at Thembalami, standing in the back.
