EASTER MEMORIES AT WEDGE GARDENS

Easter provided for some sweet experiences at Rand Aid’s Wedge Gardens treatment centre.

The occupational therapy department hosted its Wedge Café, selling delicious sweet treats in the form of vanilla chick cookies and rice crispy treats. Not only was the baking and selling of the goods a welcome break from the typical routine of Wedge Gardens but it provided the gentlemen with an opportunity to learn new skills in terms of business management as well as possible hobby ideas – helping develop an understand of healthy leisure pursuits as well as productive time use patterns. Then, thanks to the generous donation of Easter eggs by Inyoni Creek residents and their family members, those undergoing in-house rehabilitation at Wedge Gardens could enjoy a traditional Easter egg hunt.

“They thoroughly enjoyed the hunt and there was a lot of laughter and enjoyment had over the afternoon as the men participated in an activity that brought back reminders of fun, carefree days,” says occupational therapist Kendra Neethling.
