Hands of hope: SANCA Wedge Gardens clients create a vibrant tree of diversity and support

At Sanca Wedge Gardens substance use treatment centre, we work with a diverse group of people.

Recently, we asked our clients to trace and cut out their hands, then decorate them with paint or colours in any way they wished. The hands were then displayed on the branches of a ‘tree’.

“The results were vibrant and unique. This variety reflects our patients; some were creative, others kept it simple, some used monochrome, while others chose a mix of colours,” says Caryn Berman, SANCA Wedge Gardens’ occupational therapist.

“In discussing the hands, we realised that each represents how we can lend a helping hand, appreciate each other’s strengths, and support one another in moving forward. At Wedge Gardens, many hands contribute to a community of diversity and support,” she adds.
